Different assessments have different final products. Some, for example, will end with a maturity rating for the organization, while others will not. Such decisions must be made early in the assessment planning, and they will result from discussions between the Lead Assessor, the assessment sponsor, and possibly the senior executive.
For a CBA IPI, final products include all or some of the following:
- Final findings presentation (required)
- Confidence report (verbal or written)
- Recommendations briefing (optional)
- Final report (optional)
- PAIS report to the SEI (required)
- Assessment data (optional)
- Assessment plan and schedule (required)
- Feedback forms (required) for sponsor, Lead Assessor, and team member
- Requirements checklist (required)
For a SCAMPI, the products required to be delivered by the assessment team are:
A final findings presentation, which transmits to the sponsor:
- Final findings, including statement of strengths and weaknesses documented by the team for every PA investigated (similar to CBA IPI)
- All ratings planned for and generated by the team
- A copy of the plan’s section on "assessment input"
- Assessment disclosure statement (to the SEI)
- PAIS report (to the SEI)
The following final products are optional but may be requested by the organization:
- Maturity level and/or capability level ratings
- PA satisfaction/capability profiles
- Practice ratings
- An option to use "partially satisfied" as a rating assigned to a PA
- 15504 process profile
- Discipline-specific ratings (e.g., systems engineering or software engineering)
- Project-level findings or ratings
- Assessment final report
- Recommendation for taking action upon the assessed results
- Process improvement action plan
For an SCE, only an assessment plan and schedule and the final findings briefing are required to be delivered to the assessment sponsor.
After the final products are delivered, the assessment sponsor officially owns the assessment results and can disclose them (or not) at his or her discretion.
